DALI DT6 & DT8 Constant Voltage LED Drivers

The Nucleo DALI dimmable LED driver range brings full DALI-2 protocol support to constant voltage LED installations. Slim enough to conceal inside aluminium LED profiles and false ceiling cavities, these drivers deliver precise, flicker-free dimming from 0% to 100% brightness (DT6) or full tunable white and RGBW colour control (DT8) — all from a single DALI bus. Multiple dimming protocols are supported on the same unit, making the drivers equally at home in a sophisticated BMS-controlled commercial space or a simple push-button residential setup.

DT6 vs DT8 — Which Do You Need?

DALI DT6
Single Channel · Dimming Only

Controls brightness (0–100%) of a single constant voltage LED load. One DALI address per driver. Ideal for single-colour or white LED strip and profile systems where only dimming is required.

  • Single output channel
  • 0–100% smooth dimming
  • One DALI address per unit
  • Works with any DALI controller
  • Available 12V & 24V, 60W–250W
DALI DT8
Multi-Channel · Tunable White / RGBW

Adds colour control to DALI dimming. Drive tunable white (warm + cool white channels) or RGBW loads. Requires a DT8-capable DALI controller. For architectural colour temperature control and dynamic colour changing applications.

  • 2-channel (tunable white) or 4-channel (RGBW)
  • Brightness + CCT or RGBW control
  • Requires DT8 DALI controller
  • Available 12V & 24V, 60W–250W
  • Ideal for hospitality, retail, offices

Supported Dimming Protocols

All Nucleo DALI drivers support three control methods on the same hardware — no rewiring needed when switching between control systems:

Digital Bus
DALI DT6 / DT8
Full DALI-2 digital bus. Precise addressing, scene setting, group control, emergency gear compatibility. Industry-standard for commercial and hospitality projects.
Analogue
0–10V Dim
Analogue voltage signal (0V = off, 10V = full brightness). Compatible with standard 0-10V dimmer panels, KNX output modules, and BMS analogue outputs.
Manual
Push-Dim
Simple two-wire push-button input for manual dimming. Press and hold to ramp up or down. No special controller required — suitable for residential or temporary installs.

Available Models & Wattages

12V or 24V — which to choose? Use 12V DC for shorter LED strip runs up to approximately 5 metres per channel, or where 12V-rated LED products are specified. Use 24V DC for longer runs (up to ~10 metres per channel) to reduce voltage drop and maintain even brightness end-to-end. 24V also allows higher wattage per metre on LED strips of the same physical width.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between DALI DT6 and DALI DT8?
DALI DT6 controls brightness (0–100%) on a single channel — it is used for single-colour or white LED loads where only dimming is needed. DALI DT8 adds colour control, allowing tunable white (warm + cool channels) or RGBW (4 channels). DT8 requires a DALI controller that supports the DT8 colour extension.
What is a constant voltage LED driver?
A constant voltage driver maintains a fixed output voltage — 12V or 24V DC — regardless of the connected load (within rated wattage). It is used with LED strip lights, profile systems, and any LED load designed to run at a fixed voltage. This differs from constant current drivers, which are used with individual LED modules.
Can this driver be used without a DALI controller?
Yes. The driver also supports 0-10V analogue dimming and push-dim (manual push-button). These allow dimming without any DALI bus or controller, making it suitable for simpler setups or phased commissioning before a full BMS is installed.
Which wattage and voltage should I choose?
Choose wattage based on the total LED load — always add 20% headroom (e.g., use a 100W driver for an 80W strip load). Choose 12V for strip runs up to ~5m per channel; 24V for runs up to ~10m per channel to minimise voltage drop. Contact Nucleo if you need help sizing your driver for a specific project.
What protections does the driver include?
Short circuit protection, overload protection, over-voltage protection, and over-temperature protection — all with automatic recovery. The driver does not require fuse replacement after a protection event.
Will the ultra-slim driver fit inside an LED profile?
Yes. The slim body is designed to slide inside most LED aluminium profile channels (35mm width and wider), false ceiling cavities, and recessed trunking systems. This allows a fully concealed driver installation with no external junction box required.
Does Nucleo supply these drivers across India?
Yes. Nucleo supplies DALI dimmable LED drivers pan-India from Mumbai — to Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and beyond. Contact us for project quantities, bulk pricing, and technical support.
