NLP-5015 TwoWay Wall LED Profile
Dual Emission — Lights Upward AND Downward Simultaneously from One Slim Wall-Mounted Extrusion
What Is the NLP-5015 TwoWay Profile?
The NLP-5015 is a 50×15mm wall-mounted aluminium LED profile engineered with two independent LED strip channels — one facing upward, one facing downward — built into a single slim extrusion. Unlike standard wall profiles that emit light in only one direction, the NLP-5015 illuminates both the wall surface above and below the profile simultaneously, creating the architectural "floating" effect that defines premium interior lighting design.
Single Direction vs. TwoWay — The Visual Difference
The NLP-5015's dual emission creates a fundamentally different visual result from any single-direction profile.
One direction only
Wall glows above AND below
A single-direction profile creates a lit shelf. The NLP-5015 creates a glowing wall — the surface above and below both come alive, making the profile appear to float between two ribbons of light.
Six Lighting Effects with NLP-5015
The same profile, six different visual outcomes — depending on placement, wall colour, and LED colour temperature.
Floating Wall Panel
Mount the NLP-5015 horizontally on a dark feature wall with a standoff gap. Both beams wash the wall surface above and below — the profile appears to hover, untethered, between two glowing lines.
Full Vertical Wall Wash
Install vertically from floor to ceiling. Upper beam grazes upward toward the cornice; lower beam washes downward to the skirting. Creates a dramatic illuminated blade of light on the wall plane.
Bedhead Halo
Horizontal NLP-5015 mounted behind the bedhead panel — upper beam grazes the wall above the headboard; lower beam glows downward across the pillow area. The definitive luxury bedroom lighting detail.
Staircase Accent
Mounted horizontally on the staircase side wall at handrail height — upper beam lights the handrail zone; lower beam illuminates each step tread below. Beautiful and functional simultaneously.
Shelf Back-Panel
Recessed behind display shelf back panels — upper channel lights products on the shelf above; lower channel illuminates shelf face below. Makes every shelf level glow independently.
Corridor Wayfinding
Horizontal run along corridor side walls at mid-height. Upper beam guides the eye along the corridor length; lower beam provides floor-level wayfinding illumination — architectural and practical.
Two Independent Channels — Full Control
Each channel of the NLP-5015 is wired and controlled separately — giving you complete creative flexibility over the final light effect.
↑ Upper Channel
- Faces upward — washes wall surface above profile
- Independent LED strip, wattage, and CCT selection
- Separate dimmer or driver circuit
- Can be warm white for ambient ceiling wash
- Can be on a motion/occupancy sensor circuit
- Can be run at lower brightness as ambient layer
- Compatible with 8–10mm COB or SMD strip
- Optional diffuser cover (opal / frosted / open)
↓ Lower Channel
- Faces downward — washes wall surface below profile
- Independent LED strip, wattage, and CCT selection
- Separate dimmer or driver circuit
- Can be cool white for task lighting below
- Can be on a different scene circuit from upper
- Can be run brighter for reading or display light
- Compatible with 8–10mm COB or SMD strip
- Optional diffuser cover (opal / frosted / open)
NLP-5015 TwoWay vs. Single-Direction Wall Profile
Why the two-way profile is the right specification for architectural wall lighting.
🟡 NLP-5015 TwoWay Profile
- Lights upward AND downward — one profile, two effects
- Creates floating-wall, halo, and wash in one fitting
- Two independently controlled channels
- Covers both ceiling-bounce and floor-bounce light paths
- Replaces two separate profiles with one extrusion
- Slim 50×15mm — minimal visual footprint on wall
- Higher perceived production value in any interior
- Each channel accepts any 8–10mm LED strip type
⬜ Standard Single-Direction Profile
- Lights in one direction only — up or down, not both
- Creates a simple linear wash — no floating effect
- Single channel — one brightness and CCT
- Only one wall surface illuminated per profile
- Requires two separate profiles for up + down effect
- Two profiles = twice the mounting holes, twice the wiring
- Standard appearance — widely used but less distinctive
- Simpler specification for basic utility lighting
Why Specify NLP-5015?
Floating Wall Effect
The signature architectural detail that defines premium interiors — a wall that appears to be lit from within, with the profile hovering weightlessly between two soft beams.
Two Independent Circuits
Upper and lower channels on separate dimmers — create layered, flexible lighting scenes from one installed profile. Morning, evening, and presentation modes all from one fitting.
Slim 50×15mm Body
Thin enough to disappear on the wall — especially in black finish on dark feature walls. The light dominates, not the hardware.
Passive Heatsink
6063 aluminium body draws heat from both LED channels simultaneously — protecting strip lifespan even when both channels are running at full output.
Versatile Mounting
Surface mount direct to wall OR standoff mount with 20–50mm spacer brackets for pronounced floating effect. Both mounting kits available.
Cut to Any Length
Standard 2-metre length cuts with an aluminium saw to any shorter dimension. Create bespoke feature lengths for any wall width without ordering custom extrusions.
Technical Features
📏 50 × 15mm Profile
50mm wide (housing both channels) × 15mm deep projection from wall. Each internal channel is 10mm wide — accepts 8mm and 10mm LED strips.
🌟 COB Strip Recommended
COB LED strip (480 chips/m) in both channels produces a seamless filament glow on the wall surface — especially important on the upper channel where the wall is visible without a diffuser.
🎨 3 Finish Options
Anodised silver, anodised black, and white powder coat. Black is the most specified finish — disappears against dark feature walls to emphasise the light, not the hardware.
🔆 Per-Channel Diffuser
Each channel accepts its own diffuser cover independently — run upper channel open (COB bare strip visible as glowing filament) and lower channel with opal for smooth wash.
📐 Standoff Brackets
20mm, 30mm, and 50mm standoff bracket sets available — the wider the gap from wall, the softer and broader the light wash on both wall surfaces.
🔗 End-to-End Joiners
Mechanical joiners allow continuous multi-length runs without visible gaps between 2m sections — for floor-to-ceiling or full wall-width installations.

Installation Guide
📌 Surface / Standoff Wall Mount
- Mark the horizontal or vertical profile run on the wall with a laser level — precision matters, as any deviation is visible in the finished light lines on both wall surfaces. Use a spirit level or laser for runs over 1m.
- For the floating wall effect: fix standoff brackets to the wall at 400mm intervals using the appropriate wall fixing for your substrate (rawl plugs for masonry, toggle bolts for plasterboard, wood screws for timber stud). Recommended standoff: 25–35mm. The wider the gap, the softer and wider the wall wash.
- Slide or clip the NLP-5015 profile body onto the standoff brackets. The profile should sit firmly with no movement — tighten standoff grub screws to lock.
- Insert LED strips into both channels before or after mounting (easier before). Press firmly along the full length so the strip copper base contacts the aluminium floor of the channel for good thermal transfer.
- Route the LED driver cables through the wall or along the profile body to the driver position. For two independent channels, you need two separate driver output cables — either two drivers or one dual-output driver. Connect positive to positive and negative to negative on each channel.
- Snap diffuser covers into the channels (if used). Power on each channel independently and verify uniform brightness along the full run. Adjust driver output voltage if any far-end dimming is visible. Stand back and assess the wall wash effect — adjust standoff distance for desired beam spread if not yet finalized.
🔲 Recessed Wall Niche Mount
- Mark a horizontal groove in the wall face to the profile width (50mm) and depth (15mm + 5mm clearance = 20mm minimum groove depth). Use a wall chaser or multi-tool with depth guide for consistent groove depth.
- The recessed installation hides the aluminium body almost entirely within the wall — only the diffuser faces and the two light beams are visible. This achieves maximum floating effect as the light source origin is completely concealed.
- Route electrical conduit through the wall interior to the groove position before inserting the profile — running cable after the profile is recessed is extremely difficult. Plan cable routes at the groove-marking stage.
- Insert the NLP-5015 into the groove. The profile should fit with approximately 2mm clearance each side. Secure using construction adhesive (neutral-cure silicone or CT1) applied to the sides of the groove — not to the channel floor, which must remain in contact with the LED strip base for heatsinking.
- Make electrical connections at the conduit exit point before the adhesive cures. Test both channels for correct operation before the adhesive sets permanently — correcting a recessed connection after curing is a significant remedial task.
- Allow adhesive to cure fully (24 hours for most construction adhesives). Plaster and paint the groove edges flush to the profile face. The finished installation should show only two parallel ribbons of light emerging from a hairline crack in the wall — the ultimate floating effect.
↑ 〰 ↓ The Wall That Breathes Light
Most lighting sits on a wall. The NLP-5015 makes the wall itself emit. The moment both channels activate, the profile disappears as hardware and the wall surface becomes the light source — glowing above and below with equal warmth, making the surface between the two beams appear to breathe.
This effect — the floating wall, the glowing niche, the bedhead that pulses with soft amber on both sides of the headboard — is the detail that separates interior design that is professionally lit from interior design that is simply illuminated. It is the detail that guests notice first in a hotel room and that homeowners describe as the thing they love most about their bedroom.
