CD Series Constant Voltage LED Power Supply

The CD Series is a high-capacity constant voltage LED power supply designed for demanding indoor lighting installations — from cove and ceiling strip systems through to large commercial architectural runs. Spanning 60W to 500W across 12V and 24V DC, it covers everything from a single LED profile to an entire floor of continuous LED lighting. Every unit ships after a 100% full load burn-in test at the factory, screening out component failures before the driver reaches the installation. The fanless free-air convection design means silent operation across the full wattage range — critical for occupied spaces.

4-Gear DIP Switch Dimming

The CD Series provides four fixed brightness levels selectable via an on-board DIP switch — set once at installation, no external controller or dimmer required:

50%

75%

100%

Set Once, No Controller Needed

Use the on-board DIP switches to select 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% brightness before installation. Unlike continuous dimming systems, no dimmer switch, DALI controller or 0-10V signal is required — the driver maintains the set level until changed. Ideal for display lighting, commercial coves and architectural runs where a consistent, preset brightness is specified.

🌅

Slow Start & Eye Protection

The CD Series offers a slow start (soothing start) mode selectable by DIP switch. When enabled, the output ramps up gradually from zero to the set brightness level at power-on — preventing the sudden flash of full-brightness switch-on that causes glare and discomfort. This is particularly valued in hotels, bedrooms, retail spaces and galleries where the lighting experience matters as much as the light output. The no slow start option is also available where instant-on is preferred.

Sizing guide: Calculate total LED load wattage and add 20% headroom. Running a driver above 80% rated load continuously reduces operating life. For 200W of LED strip on 24V — choose the 250W model. For a full 20m run of 24W/m strip — that's 480W load, choose the 500W model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 4-gear DIP switch dimming?
The output brightness can be set to one of four fixed levels — 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% — using a DIP switch on the driver body. This is set once at installation. No external dimmer switch, controller or signal wire is required. The driver holds the set brightness level until the DIP switch is physically changed.
What is the slow start feature?
Slow start (soothing start) ramps the LED output gradually from 0% up to the set brightness level when power is first applied, rather than switching on at full brightness instantly. This prevents a jarring glare flash — important in hotels, bedrooms, galleries and retail environments. Slow start or no slow start is selectable via DIP switch.
What is the difference between CD Series and CP Series?
The CP Series supports continuous multi-protocol dimming (Triac, 0-10V, 1-10V, PWM, Resistor) for smooth 0–100% control via external dimmers or BMS. The CD Series uses 4-gear DIP dimming at fixed preset levels (25/50/75/100%) — no external controller needed. CD Series extends up to 500W, significantly higher than the CP Series range.
Why is 100% full load burn-in testing important?
Every CD Series driver is run at 100% of its rated wattage for a burn-in period before leaving the factory. This screens out early-life component failures that would otherwise occur within the first hours of operation. A driver that passes a full load burn-in test has demonstrated stable operation under maximum stress — giving significantly higher confidence in long-term reliability on site.
How do I choose the right wattage?
Calculate the total wattage of all LED loads connected to the driver, then choose the next model above with at least 20% headroom. Running a driver continuously above 80% of its rated load reduces operating life. For a 400W LED strip load, choose the 500W model rather than the 400W model.
What does IP20 mean?
IP20 means the enclosure is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but has no water or dust resistance. IP20 drivers are for indoor dry installations only — inside false ceilings, conduit enclosures and dry wall cavities. Not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor use or areas with moisture.
Does Nucleo supply the CD Series across India?
