Architectural Indirect Cove Lighting
The NLP-6969 — a purpose-built corner profile for wall-ceiling junction lighting
The NLP-6969 is a large corner aluminium profile that mounts directly at the junction where a wall meets the ceiling. It carries two rows of LED channels — one directed upward to wash the ceiling surface, and a second directed downward to light the wall below. Both operate simultaneously from the same corner position, creating a dual-direction glow that frames the entire wall-ceiling junction in soft, indirect light.
From any position in the room, both LED sources are completely invisible — the profile body acts as a full baffle in both directions. What you see is a ceiling bathed in soft light from above and a wall gently lit from the corner below. This combination makes the entire corner appear to float — a signature effect in premium hospitality, luxury residences, and high-end commercial interiors. Surface-mounts directly at the corner with no plasterwork required.
The Cove Lighting Effect
What the NLP-6969 does to a room
Ceiling Wash — Upper Channel
The top LED row faces the ceiling, flooding it with soft indirect light. The ceiling becomes the light source — a large, glare-free surface that fills the room with calm, even ambient light.
Wall Accent — Lower Channel
The bottom LED row faces downward, casting a gentle wash on the wall below the profile. This highlights wall texture and material, adding depth and layering to the overall lighting scene.
Floating Corner Effect
With light above and below, the entire wall-ceiling junction appears to glow. The corner seems to dissolve — ceiling floats above, wall glows below, and the profile sits as a sharp architectural line between them.
Zero Glare
Both LED channels are hidden inside the profile body. Neither source is visible from the room — only the light effect on the surfaces above and below.
Greater Perceived Height
The upward ceiling wash draws the eye upward, making rooms feel taller. The downward wall accent grounds the space. Together they give the room a composed, full-height quality.
Independent Control
The two channels can be controlled independently — different brightness levels, different colour temperatures, or one on and one off — giving full flexibility over the lighting scene.
Up and Down — One Profile Does Both
Most cove profiles only light in one direction. The NLP-6969 does both from a single corner mounting. The upper channel washes the ceiling — filling the room with soft, reflected indirect light that eliminates glare and makes the space feel taller. The lower channel washes the wall below — adding a gentle accent that highlights wall texture and creates a layered depth to the lighting. Together, the two directions make the entire wall-ceiling junction glow, as if light is emanating from the corner itself. This is the effect that defines premium hotel rooms, luxury apartments, and high-end commercial spaces.
Surface Mount · Fast to Install · Works in Any Space
The NLP-6969 fixes directly onto the wall-ceiling corner — no recessing, no plastering, no specialist ceiling trades. Fix the profile to the corner, seat both LED strips into their channels, clip the PC diffusers, and the up-down cove effect is live. The profile body itself creates a clean shadow gap at the junction — the two glowing lines (ceiling above, wall below) appear to float either side of it. Works equally well in new-build and retrofit projects.

About the NLP-6969 and cove lighting
-
The NLP-6969 creates a dual-direction indirect glow at the wall-ceiling junction. Two LED channels are built into the profile — one lights upward onto the ceiling, the other downward onto the wall below. The profile body conceals both sources completely. From inside the room, all you see is the ceiling washed with soft ambient light from above and the wall gently accented from below — the entire corner appears to float in light.
-
Cove lighting works best with light-coloured ceilings (white, off-white, or pale tones) which reflect the upward light evenly across the room. Dark ceilings absorb the light and reduce the ambient wash effect significantly. If a dark ceiling is required for design reasons, a higher-wattage LED strip helps compensate. Warm white (3000K) ceilings are usually most flattering.
-
Downlights project light directly downward in a narrow cone — they illuminate specific spots well but create hard shadows, high contrast, and visible sources that cause glare. Cove lighting is entirely indirect: light bounces off the ceiling and fills the room softly from above. The two are often used together — downlights for task areas, cove for ambient fill — but cove alone creates the most premium, relaxing atmosphere.

Yes. Both channels accept tunable white (CCT) strips for warm-to-cool transitions through the day, or RGBWW strips with DMX control for colour-scene programming. The two channels can carry the same strip type or different ones — for example, a warm white upward channel for ceiling ambience and an RGBWW downward channel for wall colour effects. In hospitality spaces, dynamic scene control across both channels can shift the entire room atmosphere with a single command.

No. The NLP-6969 is a surface-mount corner profile — it fixes directly onto the wall and ceiling surfaces at the 90° junction. No recessing, no plastering, and no specialist ceiling work is required. The profile body itself creates a clean architectural shadow gap, and the cove light line appears above it. This makes installation straightforward for both new projects and retrofit situations.

For an even ceiling wash, the LED strip should ideally be 150–300mm below the ceiling surface when mounted in the profile — the NLP-6969 positions the strip naturally at the wall-ceiling junction, which is the ideal location. In rooms with very high ceilings, mounting the profile lower on the wall (in a deliberate reveal or drop soffit) can extend the wash further across the ceiling surface.
