Assembling a fiber optic star ceiling from separate components — sourcing a compatible engine, calculating fiber counts, matching port sizes, ordering the right lengths — takes time and involves multiple suppliers. A Nucleo DIY kit eliminates all of that.
The 18W RGBW twinkling light engine, pre-cut PMMA fiber strands at 3-metre lengths, RF remote control, power cable and installation guide all arrive in one box, matched to each other and tested before dispatch. Installation requires a drill, the fibers, and the engine — nothing more needs to be sourced or specified.
Because no electrical current flows through the fibers, the ceiling installation itself requires no licensed electrical work. The engine plugs into a standard wall socket. Only the power point location requires an electrician — the fiber threading and bundling can be completed by any experienced installer.
Choose based on your ceiling area and the look you want — uniform brightness across all stars, or natural variation in star magnitude.

Available as an upgrade on both the 200-point and 300-point kits, and on all custom configurations. The light engine is upgraded with a built-in motorised mechanism — no external controller, no programming, no extra wiring. Specify the option when ordering.
The 200-point and 300-point standard kits suit most domestic ceilings. For larger spaces, unusual void depths, multi-zone installations, or professional hospitality projects, Nucleo builds custom kits to order. All parameters are configurable.

Any Fiber Length
Standard 3m lengths can be changed to any length from 1m to 12m to suit ceiling void depth and routing requirements.

Everything Pre-Matched
Engine wattage, port size, fiber count and length are all matched before the kit is assembled. The components arrive compatible with each other — no checking thread counts against port capacities or verifying fiber diameter tolerances.
18W RGBW Twinkling Engine
16 million colour combinations from the RGBW LED channels. Twinkling effect is built in — no add-on controller needed for the base twinkling mode. RF remote switches between colours, whites, dynamic scenes and brightness levels.
Mixed Fiber Depth of Field
The 300-point kit's three fiber diameters replicate star magnitude distribution — 60% fine 0.75mm fibers create the background field, 30% medium 1mm fibers add definition, and 10% bright 1.5mm fibers become the prominent accent stars the eye is naturally drawn to.
No Electrician for Fiber Work
The fiber threading, bundling and engine connection requires no licensed electrical work. The engine plugs into a standard AC socket. A pre-positioned power point in the ceiling void is all the electrical preparation needed.
Safe at the Ceiling Surface
No electricity flows through the fiber strands. The tips emit only visible light — no heat, no UV. Fiber ends are safe to touch, safe to embed in soft furnishings, and safe in children's rooms and sensory spaces without any additional precaution.
One Engine — All Points
The single engine drives every fiber point simultaneously. If the engine ever needs service or replacement, the entire star field is restored from one accessible location in the ceiling void — the ceiling itself requires no intervention.
Plan the Star Layout
Mark random dot positions on the ceiling panel. Vary spacing naturally — dense clusters and open voids look more authentic than even grids.
Drill the Holes
Use a 1.0–1.8mm drill bit matched to the fiber diameter. Angle holes slightly for the best light spread at the ceiling surface.
Thread the Fibers
Push one strand through each hole from above. Leave a short stub protruding below — this is trimmed flush after the engine is connected and lit.
Bundle & Connect
Gather all fiber ends from above the ceiling into a single bundle and insert into the engine's 20mm input port. Secure with the locking collar.
Power Up & Trim
Connect the engine to power. Trim protruding fiber stubs flush with the ceiling surface. Use the RF remote to select colour, brightness and effects.
